Opioid Stewardship: Integrating Simulation-Based Training with Operational Solutions (1090-003600)
Start time: Friday, March 5, 2021, 1:00 PM End time: Friday, March 5, 2021, 2:00 PM CE Hours: 1.00 Session Type: Prerecorded Educational Courses
Learning Objective 1:
Discuss a multifaceted approach to address opioid use disorder through opioid prescribing, addiction services, information technology tools, and provider education
Learning Objective 2:
Discuss the use of simulation-based training to uncover misconceptions and erroneous behaviors that create barriers to serving patients with opioid use disorder, and approaches to affect change among providers
Learning Objective 3:
Identify key components of a multifaceted opioid stewardship program integrating simulation-based education with systems-based changes
This course focuses on a detailed aspect of the topic.
Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) has resulted in a dramatic increase in deaths over the past 2 decades and imposes an enormous US public health burden. We discuss our institutional Opioid Stewardship Program that utilizes simulation-based education to promote the development and utilization of systems-based solutions to mitigate the risk of OUD. We will discuss curriculum development, outcome measures, and risk-mitigation for patients with OUD.
