Using Wearable Technologies to Measure Participant Physiology in Simulation-based Education (1090-002299)

CE Hours: 1.50
Session Type: Prerecorded Educational Courses
Session Sub Type: Hands-on Workshop (90 minutes)
Cost: $0.00

Learning Objective 1:
Describe the role of participant physiologic measurement in simulation-based activities
Learning Objective 2:
Identify appropriate measurement techniques to assess participant engagement
Learning Objective 3:
Practice application of various measurement techniques within a simulation scenario

Content Category: Educator

Course Content: This course is a general overview of the topic.

Course Overview:
This workshop introduces physiologic measures of stress, task load, and attention that can be utilized during simulation. We present technologies such as eye-tracking, measurement of heart rate variability, and galvanic skin response. Participants will learn ways to apply the technologies and the pros and cons of each. They will then get expert feedback and peer discussion on their own ideas of how to use these technologies in their practice.
