Utilizing Motion-Activated, Blacklight Reactive Spray to Simulate a Patient Sneeze (1090-001147)
CE Hours: 0.25 Session Type: SimVentors Session Sub Type: Prerecorded Video Demonstration Cost: $0.00
Description:
This device is a motion-activated container that can be filled with a safe, non-toxic liquid that aerates simulating a patient sneeze and illuminates when viewed under a blacklight. This can be used in any simulation using a Standardized Patient or manikin. It can be the sole objective of the scenario or can be used as a secondary objective for the simulation. The unique aspect of the motion-activated spray allows for the variability of the learner encountering the motion activation zone. The motion activation is triggered by identifying a temperature change in the motion zone and has a spray distance of 1-3 feet as actual patient sneezes naturally occur. The activation of the simulated sneeze can be used in conjunction with a sneeze audio file to increase credibility. After successful transmission of the spray, resetting the room would require wiping down of all affected hard surfaces with a disinfecting wipe, wiping down manikin with a manikin safe cleanser, replacing all linens, and having the SP use a safe make up remover safe for skin.
