Low-cost Simulator for Venipuncture (1090-003788)
CE Hours: 0.25 Cost: $0.00
Description:
Given the demand for the use of venipuncture simulators, their high cost in the market and the need to replace components, the following proposal is the design of a low-cost simulator to perform venipuncture on the forearm. The development of the present simulator was based on three characteristics, easy to find materials, ease of construction and a feedback system was added. For development it was used: • Aluminum sheet of 10cmx10cm • Velcro 5 cm wide by 30cm long • 10x10 Electrically Conductive Cloth Sheet • 5mm Led • 100 Ohms carbon resistance • Led holder for mounting • 9V battery • 9V battery holder clip • Silicone (It can be replaced by gelatin, sorbitol and glycerin) • Latex hose • 3mm thick sponge • Venoclysis system • Injectable water bag 250 thousand • Vegetable red coloring Materials and tools • Soldering iron • Tin solder • Glue •Scissors Assembly methodology: 1. Verify that the aluminum foil has no edges that are dangerous or unsafe. 2. Stick the velcro to the aluminum foil on the back so that this velcro is used to place it on a person's arm. 3. Drill a hole one centimeter from the top edge of the aluminum foil in the central part. 4. Place the led holder in the hole in the sheet. 5. Solder and assemble the Led circuit, Resistance, battery holder clip, aluminum foil and conductive cloth, the objective of this circuit is that when the puncture is made with a needle, the conductive cloth makes contact by means of the needle with the aluminum so that if the participant does not puncture properly, or if it is very deep, the led should light up. 6. The led is placed in the led holder, the resistance is thinned on the aluminum sheet and the battery holder on the side of the sheet. 7. The sponge is placed on the aluminum foil, and the latex hoses are glued anatomically to the forearm on the foil. 8. The conductive fabric is placed on the sponge and the latex forms, only gluing in the corners. 9. The silicone is placed on the conductive fabric, this will simulate the skin. If you do not have silicone, you can use a mixture of glycerin, sorbitol and gelatin mixed in equal parts with heat. 10. A venoclysis system with a red dye solution is placed in the latex hose.
