Looping: A Simulation Experience through All the Patient Care Areas (1090-003744)
CE Hours: 0.25 Session Type: Prerecorded Educational Courses
Learning Objective 1:
Understand the concept of looping and how to apply it within a simulation program for education and patient safety
Learning Objective 2:
Overview of ideas for curriculum design in an interprofessional setting that will mitigate patient safety events though the looping process
Learning Objective 3:
This course is an example of a specific scenario, course, or curriculum.
Using a low fidelity simulated experience to identify areas of patient safety concerns and potential sources of medical error for a new surgical service line. The entire patient experience was replicated from the operating room through post recovery and PICU to the acute care. A interprofessional process set to highlight the areas of lapses in education, communication and documentation for a new novel surgical procedure at a children's hospital.
