Structured Abstract:
Abstract: Background: In 2018 a pilot testing project was initiated in collaboration with Equinor and Laerdal Medical to do pilot testing of the concept at 5 oil platforms in the North Sea. Aim: Aim: To test if telesimulation from an onshore simulation center to oil-platforms in the North Sea was feasible and if it could be a supplement to simulation training at a simulation center every two years. How the participants compared the telesimulation to training at a simulation center and whether they experienced the same learning outcomes from telesimulation. Methods: The technical principals of the telesimulation are described in Fig. 1 Principle drawing of remote simulation. The simulation sessions were facilitated by a senior facilitator at SAFER. A total of 10 simulations were conducted throughout the pilot testing period. Results: Participant compliance to evaluation and feedback were 77%. From participants point of view telesimulation was rated just as good or better than sim center SBT in 87% (20) of the evaluations. Graded questions were rated between 4 and 5, except from the rating of how difficult the scenario was, 3,83 Conclution: Telesimulation from an onshore simulation center to oil-platforms in the North Sea was feasible. The feedback from the participants are consistent and they found telesimulation to be a good supplement to regular SBT at a simulation center. Participants also experienced the telesimulation to be very good compared to prior SBT experience
