Use of Simulation for Re-entry and Recertification for CRNAs (1090-004138)
CE Hours: 1.00 Session Type: Prerecorded Educational Courses Session Sub Type: Panel Presentation (60 minutes) Cost: $0.00
Learning Objective 1:
Describe the background and needs of the NBCRNA that led to the use of simulation in the reentry program and exploration of simulation for use in the CPC program
Learning Objective 2:
Describe studies and best practices that serve as the foundation for the design of the NBCRNAs alpha study for virtual and high-fidelity simulation as an alternative to the CPC Assessment
Learning Objective 3:
Explain assessment considerations for the use of virtual and high-fidelity simulation with the NBCRNA’s CPC program
Content Category: Administrator
Course Content:
This course focuses on a detailed aspect of the topic.
Course Overview:
High fidelity, manikin-based simulation has been used by the NBCRNA since 2016 to demonstrate clinical performance behaviors as part of the process for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) who have been absent from and wish to reenter clinical practice. An initiative to provide an alternative to the 150-item recertification exam is being explored by the NBCRNA to include the use of virtual reality and high fidelity simulation.
