Course Overview:
This session will present the Healthcare Simulation Code of Ethics, discussing how professional practice is shaped and advanced through codes of ethics, and considering opportunities to engage with the Code. Participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss their own challenges and successes, and consider a vision for future advances in ethical healthcare simulation practice.
Co-Presenter: Christine Park, MD, University of Illinois at Chicago About the co-presenter: Christine Park, MD is a Past President of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Dr. Park is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Medical Education. She is the Associate Head for Learning and Innovation at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Director of the Simulation And Integrative Learning Institute at UIC. She serves on the editorial board of the journal Simulation in Healthcare, and is an Editor for Special Projects at OpenAnesthesia.org. Her simulation research interests include cognitive bias in decision making and learning, and maintenance of competence in practicing clinicians. Her passion in life is language and literature, which fuels her interest in simulation, education and humanities in healthcare.
