Course Overview:
Although improvements have been made, medical error in healthcare remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Evidence shows that particularly in the peri-operative environment, when faced with a difficult and complex situation, excellent performance is sometimes difficult to achieve and can lead to less than optimal outcomes for the patient and the team. Conversely, sports doubles teams, although a very different context, often demonstrate enhanced performance in complicated situations, and therefore may be able to provide inspiration for healthcare teams by further understanding the learning practices adopted by sports doubles players to achieve excellence.
